Un ami m’a fait part de cette citation tir\u00e9e d’un site web intitul\u00e9 Humans of New York. Nous travaillons souvent au milieu d’une montagne de morts et de souffrances. Prenons-nous le temps de pleurer ? <\/p>\n

“Certains de mes coll\u00e8gues me disent qu’ils ne peuvent pas imaginer travailler en p\u00e9diatrie. Des millions d’ann\u00e9es d’\u00e9volution nous ont conditionn\u00e9s \u00e0 r\u00e9agir aux cris d’un enfant. Nous ne supportons pas de voir un enfant souffrir. Et lorsque nous avons nous-m\u00eames des enfants, le travail devient encore plus difficile. Nous r\u00e9agissons tous diff\u00e9remment, mais tout le monde pleure un jour ou l’autre. Pas devant le patient, mais tout le monde pleure. Tous les quelques mois, nous organisons une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie au cours de laquelle nous pleurons tous les enfants d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9s. Nous pr\u00e9sentons un diaporama. Nous faisons des cartes. Nous parlons d’eux et nous nous souvenons d’eux ensemble. Nous reconnaissons que nous ressentons tous cette perte. Et m\u00eame si notre chagrin n’est pas aussi important que celui de la famille, il n’est pas non plus insignifiant. Nous devons prendre le temps de le reconna\u00eetre. Un article paru ce mois-ci dans notre publication de m\u00e9decine de comt\u00e9<\/a> (aux \u00c9tats-Unis) soulignait le m\u00eame besoin. Il s’intitulait \u00ab L \u201c\u00e9puisement professionnel des m\u00e9decins : Ne laissez pas la fatigue mener \u00e0 l\u201d \u00e9chec \u00bb. Je cite : \u00ab Il fait des ravages dans votre vie et dans celle de vos patients. Il peut d\u00e9chirer votre famille. Il peut mettre fin \u00e0 votre carri\u00e8re. Le stress et l \u201c\u00e9puisement professionnel des m\u00e9decins touchent environ 45 % d’entre eux aux \u00c9tats-Unis\u201d. L’article poursuit en citant Mike Drummond, MD,<\/a> qui met en garde : \u201cVoici la trag\u00e9die inexprim\u00e9e : si vous ne pouvez pas \u00eatre \u00e9motionnellement pr\u00e9sent pour vos patients \u00e0 cause de l\u201d \u00e9puisement compassionnel, vous ne pouvez pas non plus \u00eatre pr\u00e9sent pour votre conjoint, votre conjoint de fait, vos enfants ou vos amis. Tout le monde est perdant lorsque vous vous laissez \u00e9puiser au travail. Mais le stress des m\u00e9decins est \u00e0 la fois \u00e9vitable et traitable \u00bb.
