Healthcare and the Mission of God
A faith-based guide for Christian healthcare workers seeking to integrate healing, gospel witness, and the mission of God
For the Christian medical professional, the tension between expert care and the Great Commission can feel like an impossible choice. After thirty years as a healthcare missionary in Africa and Asia, I have seen that these callings are designed to be inseparable. Whether you are in the field or preparing for your first trip, this book offers a “healing balm” to help you fulfill your calling.
“This profound and practical book will be transformative to those planning to be medical missionaries or those already serving overseas.”

About Paul J. Hudson, MD, MPH
Dr. Paul J. Hudson is a physician and epidemiologist who has dedicated over thirty years to global medical missions. Trained at Johns Hopkins University and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, Paul’s journey into missions began with a short-term trip to Kenya that fundamentally shifted his understanding of faith and disease.
Alongside his wife, Clare, Paul served with SIM in Ethiopia, Nepal, and Thailand, focusing on clinical care, public health, and HIV/AIDS ministry. His decades in the field have been defined by a passion for integrating healthcare with the Gospel, moving beyond “fixing” patients to participating in God’s broader plan for restoration. Today, Paul continues to mentor and coach healthcare missionaries globally, helping a new generation find lasting joy in the “crucible of ministry.” Paul and Clare currently live in the United States, where he remains active in advocating for integral mission in global health.
